Chuck Hoehn
Chuck has 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl who he is very proud of. Chuck purchased his first mustang in 1991. It was a 1983 Hatchback that he drove on the street. Chuck found out about MOMS in 1997 and joined that year. Chuck ran in the street classes until 2000. Then wanting to move up Chuck went and purchased a Demon 800cfm carb for his stock 306 motor. Slapped it on and ran 4 tenths slower??? So he contacted the folks at Demon Carbs and they promptly told him that is was way to big for what he was trying to do. Hmm now what. At some point somebody approached Chuck asking if he wanted to trade the carb for a Nitrous setup. Chuck knew the carb was worth more than the injection setup but after mulling it around he made the swap. So he installed the Nitrous and got a set of drag radials and smiled and giggled all the way down the track as he ran a 11.40.  Chuck was hooked.     In 2005 Chuck wanted to start his own business so he approached B&B Auto Sales and started renting garage space and started C&H Auto Repair in Mt Morris. Even while I was doing this interview I had Chuck doing a couple repairs on my truck.  It’s a nice shop he has.    Chuck ran that 306 motor until 2007 when it finally gave up. Chuck was ready with a new 347 to put in and proceeded to win the Power Adder Class in 2007 and he won again in 2010. The first race of 2011 Chuck came out and the old car just couldn’t handle all the power and twisted the torque boxes as he was trying to put to the ground.      Now you must realize that being a 44 year old divorced father of 3 Chuck fits the title of a true “Budget Racer” So Chuck went out and found a 84 Notchback 4cyl car in PA. He brought it home and proceeded to tear it completely down and rebuilt the entire car along with extra bracing, roll cage, suspension, paint, wiring,  paint, etc. Yanked the motor out of the old car and put it in the new car and was back at the track for the last MOMS race of the 2011 season and started working on getting the bugs out of it. Chuck worked on it some more over the off season and came out ready for action in 2012. Not only was Chuck ready for action. He went out and won the Power Adder class again in 2012 with a car that runs 9.30’s. Mind you, Chuck only races at Empire and only in the MOMS program, he will occasionally run a couple test and tunes but that is all the budget allows. This is a guy that loves drag racing and loves racing in MOMS. If you ever call his shop and there is a delay in him answering the phone it’s probably because he’s drag racing on his cell phone. He had a person call one day and he answered the phone while he was staging. All the person at the other end of the phone could hear was Chuck’s cell phone hitting the rev limiter. Now there is a guy who loves racing.
